Strategy Engineering & Consulting LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (15+ years’ experience) to join our growing team. This role will support the design, procurement, and fabrication of equipment for onshore and offshore oil & gas facilities, as well as emerging renewable energy projects.
Job Overview/Summary:
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to all phases of project execution — from conceptual design and detailed engineering to procurement support, fabrication, and field execution. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and vendors to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective designs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Contribute to conceptual engineering, FEED, and detailed design for onshore and offshore facilities (Greenfield and Brownfield).
Size, specify, and prepare datasheets for mechanical/process equipment (vessels, tanks, pumps, compressors, turbines, fans, blowers, utilities, etc.).
Develop technical specifications, requisitions, and bid evaluations for equipment packages.
Perform engineering calculations including hydraulics, relief/vent sizing, PSV and control valve sizing, tank venting, and supervision of pipe stress analysis.
Prepare and review P&IDs, flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and offshore modification permit packages (SFDs, SAFE charts, fire & gas layouts, permit letters).
Conduct engineering studies, hazard/risk assessments, debottlenecking analyses, API 14C compliance, and regulatory compliance checks (BSEE, USCG, ABS).
Prepare bid packages and review vendor drawings for compliance with project requirements.
Coordinate with drafting/design teams to deliver accurate drawings and layouts.
Monitor and report progress against project scope, schedule, and budget.
Support procurement, vendor interfaces, and regulatory submittals.
Perform site visits (onshore and offshore) to collect data, survey existing facilities, and support upgrades or modifications.
Provide assistance during construction, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
Conduct vendor shop inspections to verify compliance with specifications.
Work closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated designs.
Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
Participate in project meetings and contribute to planning and execution strategies.
Provide professional mentorship to junior engineers.
Job requirements
Required Skills/Qualifications:
B.S. or higher in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
15+ years of relevant oil and gas engineering experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced); working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
Strong analytical, detail-oriented, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to work multiple projects, work overtime as needed, and travel 10% (typical) or as required by project.
