Strategy Engineering is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer who is responsible for supporting and actively participating in detailed I&C design activities in a variety of off-shore and on-shore projects.

As a successful candidate, you will take ownership of applicable engineering deliverables such as Instrument Datasheets, Cable Schedules, Instrument Indexes, and I/O lists. You’ll aid in the creation of Design Drawings such as PLC Panel Layout Drawings, Junction Box Layout Drawings, Wiring Diagrams, Installation details, etc.

In this position, you will interface with project managers and other discipline leads to ensure accuracy and consistency across engineering packages, from the design to the construction phase.

Responsibilities and Duties may include the following, pending project requirements:

  • Prepare Instrument Datasheets, Instrument Indexes, I/O Lists, and Cable Schedules.
  • Perform sizing calculations for Control Valves, Relief Valves, Orifice Meters.
  • Specify common industry instrumentation such as Pressure, Temperature, Flow, and Level Transmitters and gauges.
  • Review and provide Input to P&IDs from an instrumentation and controls perspective.
  • Work with a senior engineer and design and drafting team to produce instrumentation drawings such as Instrument Wiring Diagrams, Instrument Installation Details, Junction Box and PLC Panel Layout Drawings and B.O.M.
  • Be able to review and comment on vendor packages to ensure compliance with project standards and expectations.
  • Provide Technical Bid Evaluations for project that require such level of analysis.
  • Be able to identify out-of-scope activities and interface with the management team prior to commencing work on such activities.


Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program.
  • 8-12 years of Related experience in Instrumentation and Controls
  • Experience sizing control valves and relief valves using vendor software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Fisher Valve Specification Manager, Emerson PRV2Size, and FE-Sizer preferred and important for job duties.
  • EIT or P.E. Licenses preferred, but not required.
  • Tropical Helicopter Underwater Escape Training Preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with the following products is preferred: Rosemount Transmitters, Fisher Control Valves and Regulators, Norriseal Control Valves, Kimray Control Valves, Anderson Greenwood Relief Valves, Wika and Ashcroft pressure and temperature instruments and Enardo Pressure/Vacuum Products.
  • Able to efficiently use Microsoft Office Tools, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proven ability to communicate well in written and verbal communications
  • Good organizational skills, flexibility, and interpersonal skills are a must
  • Familiarity with API 520, 521, 12F, 2000 and AGA No. 3.
