Job Overview/Summary:

The Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for technical supervision and management of the electrical engineering activities for the company. In addition to managing the engineering aspects, the manager also heavily interfaces with the drafting & design departments, other engineering disciplines, and the project management team in the course of business. The manager will work with multiple simultaneous project teams for onshore, offshore and renewables facilities. Additionally, this role is expected to provide backup to engineering management tasks, including leadership on project teams, mentorship, and proposal work. The manager may also be responsible for direct client interface for projects assigned as well as managing projects from time to time, especially those which are electrical only.

Candidate should have experience in the Lead Electrical Engineer role for multiple industries such as oil and gas, LNG production and handling, refineries, and petrochemical at a minimum. Experience with solar and BESS are a plus.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage and supervise direct reports developing their technical competencies.
  • Design and technical supervision of engineering activities associated with projects.
  • Coordinate with drafting in preparation of electrical drawings.
  • Coordinating work with other engineering disciplines to minimize conflicts and errors.
  • Define requirements for design of various equipment for offshore and onshore production as well as renewables facilities.
  • Prepare various studies associated with selection of equipment.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications and datasheets for the sizing and selection of various equipment (switchgear, motors, MCCs, VFDs, etc.).
  • Interface with other disciplines to minimize conflicts and errors.
  • Provide engineering calculations for sizing and selection of equipment.
  • Utilize ETAP and SKM for multiple analysis types, including arc flash energy calculation, protective device coordination, ground grid step and touch potential, underground cable thermal studies, and DC/AC loss and load flow for renewable energy projects.
  • Perform design checks and provide mentorship to other electrical engineers.
  • Provide input on cost estimates for a variety of projects, including renewable energy, midstream, and downstream E&C facilities.
  • Review vendor drawings.

Job requirements

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • 10-15+ years experience in industrial electrical engineering activities.
  • Electrical Professional Engineering License is required.
  • Expert knowledge of low voltage systems.
  • Knowledge of medium voltage systems is a plus.
  • Experience with hazardous area classifications.
  • Experience with renewable energy systems, including solar layout and design and BESS is highly preferred.
  • Ability to read, create, and modify electrical control schematics is preferred.
  • Must have high proficiency with common office computer software, including PDF markup tools.
  • Must have a functional working knowledge of NFPA 70, API 500, and other key industry codes and standards.
  • Experience with harmonic and transient analysis in ETAP/SKM is highly preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate well in written and verbal communications.
